Reeves County Detention Complex is nestled about three miles southwest of Pecos, in the heart of Reeves County, Texas. This privately operated facility has seen its fair share of history, and it’s become a prominent fixture in the area.

According to Federal Prison Consultants, the complex houses approximately 1,150 federal inmates. Another source, reevescountyjail.org, states that the jail has a capacity for around 1,200 inmates. However, the Department of Justice (DOJ) report also mentioned a contract to house up to 2,407 federal prison inmates. These discrepancies might be due to different complex sections having various capacities.

Established as an immigration detention facility, the complex has experienced multiple expansion and contraction phases over the years.
