Logan Correctional Center

Logan Correctional Center is a women’s prison located in Lincoln, Illinois. Established in January 1978, the facility operates as a multi-level security center and provides specialized programs and services for its female population, addressing their unique needs. The institution functions both as a housing facility and as the intake reception and classification center for the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Spanning 150 acres, with 57 acres enclosed by secure fencing, Logan Correctional Center accommodates inmates across a variety of living units, including general housing, segregation, protective custody, and mental health units. The facility is equipped with a 15-bed infirmary and a medical unit specifically designed to support pregnant inmates and those requiring critical or terminal care.

With an operational capacity of 1,397, the center housed a total population of 1,034 as of June 30, 2024. Logan offers an array of programs and services to its inmates, including adult basic education (ABE), career technologies training (such as cosmetology and construction), and degrees in partnership with prestigious universities. Programs for mental health support, substance abuse recovery, anger management, and skills-building foster personal growth and rehabilitation.
