Centennial Correctional Facility

The Centennial Correctional Facility (CCF) in Cañon City, Colorado, opened its doors in 1980 as the state’s first maximum security prison. Initially serving this role until 1993, it was reclassified as a Level V maximum security facility in 2010, reflecting its commitment to housing high-custody offenders under strict security measures.

The complex comprises two distinct sections—CCF-North and CCF-South—each serving specialized roles within Colorado’s correctional system. CCF-North accommodates 336 adult male inmates, including 240 beds for the Residential Treatment Program. This program supports offenders grappling with serious mental illnesses. An additional 96 beds within CCF-North are reserved for the Intensive Treatment Community (ITC), which focuses on rehabilitation and community-building efforts.

CCF-South was decommissioned in October 2012 but resumed operations in March 2020 to address increasing demands. Today, it houses 600 inmates across two towers. This includes 32 beds designated for Restrictive Housing, meant for offenders requiring a heightened level of supervision.

The remaining capacity is divided between 552 close-custody offenders and 48 incentive offenders. Select inmates from the ITC program and the incentive living unit provide essential support services such as food preparation, laundry, and library management.

CCF provides in-person, non-contact, and video options for those interested in visitation, managed via Securus Technologies.

The facility continues to operate under the leadership of Warden Ryan Flores, combining rigorous security with innovative rehabilitation programs to ensure the safety of the community and the development of its inmates.
