Madison Correctional Facility

The Madison Correctional Facility, located in Southeastern Indiana, is a minimum-security prison for women. Overlooking the Ohio River and bordered by Clifty Falls State Park, the facility offers a serene yet structured environment for its inmates.

Originally established in 1989 as a Level 1 male work camp, it transitioned in 2004 to accommodate the growing population of incarcerated women. Today, it houses up to 910 female offenders, including a 72-bed work release program.

The facility emphasizes rehabilitation and re-entry into society through a variety of programs. Educational opportunities include literacy courses, Ivy Tech manufacturing certifications, and apprenticeships in fields like cosmetology and welding.
