The East Boise Community Reentry Center (EBCRC) plays a critical role in helping individuals transition from incarceration to reintegration into society. Established in July 1980, it was Idaho’s first reentry center. Originally accommodating all genders, the facility underwent a significant transformation in September 1989 to become an all-female center, tailoring its services to meet the unique needs of women reentering their communities.

Today, EBCRC houses up to 148 female residents classified as minimum custody. It provides an environment that bridges the gap between incarceration and freedom, emphasizing personal development and community involvement.

The center offers various programs designed to promote successful transitions, including treatment services, support groups, and opportunities for community service. Residents also participate in community-based employment, gaining valuable work experience to prepare for their independent futures.

The center is more than just a place to serve the remainder of one’s sentence. It offers educational opportunities, volunteer activities, and life skills programs, giving residents the tools they need to succeed upon release. Through partnerships with local organizations, EBCRC residents contribute to the community, building a foundation of trust and reciprocity.

Visitation at EBCRC is thoughtfully scheduled to maintain security and foster positive connections with loved ones. As of April 2025, visitors can arrive on:

  • Saturdays and Sundays: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Check-ins are available at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Visits run from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. or 2:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., depending on the session.
  • Approved visitors must adhere to the strict visitation rules to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

For over four decades, EBCRC has stood as a symbol of hope and second chances, giving its residents the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives and contribute to society.
